About the job

In this role, you will:
• plan, prepare tender and administer road maintenance and Regional contracts
• perform inspection and administration including warranty requirements for highway Regional contracts including In Scope Minor Capital contained in the Area Maintenance Contract
• provide technical and administrative support to ensure contract delivery

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Technical Expertise

• You have demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles related to highway construction, maintenance, and road design.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of contract preparation, tendering practices, administration and the monitoring of warranties throughout the duration of a contract.
• You have knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to the preparation of tenders, contract administration and contract payments.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and acts to provide advice to stakeholders.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of construction safety methods and practices.
• You have the ability to read and interpret contract documents and plans.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting procedures to maintain records, monitor budgets and forecast expenditures.

Analytical, Evaluative and Decision-Making Skills:

• You have the demonstrated knowledge to review, recommend and identify road rehabilitation alternatives.
• You have proven analytical, evaluation and decision-making skills to assess alternatives, evaluate tender submissions and recommend technical solutions.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have proven communication and interpersonal skills to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
• You have proven technical writing skills to produce technical reports, correspondence specifications and contract documents.
• You can establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• You can negotiate design and contract language on behalf of the ministry in a productive and constructive manner.

Computer Skills:

• you are proficient in using AutoCAD and computer software applications, email and internet access to complete reports and spreadsheets
