About the job

You will:
• act as the key communications contact for assigned areas of responsibility
• develop and implement a wide range of high profile, internal and external communications projects
• advise senior staff in the planning and implementation of communication strategies, issues management, media and public relations activities
• research and write a wide range of communications products

What you bring to the team


Communications Planning Skills:

• You have expert knowledge of communications principles and practices, journalism and public relations.
• You have demonstrated strategic planning and conceptualization skills to proactively manage assigned portfolios.
• You have the ability to develop complex, short and long-term communications strategies and plans.
• You have political acuity to develop communication strategies that are consistent with corporate direction.

Project and Time Management Skills:

• You have developed excellent project management skills to lead large-scale projects.
• You have proven coordination skills to successfully achieve goals and deliverables.
• You can demonstrate excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure with frequently changing and competing priorities.

Communication Skills:

• You have strong written communication skills to develop and prepare complex communication products including news releases, fact sheets, speeches, writing for the web and social media.
• You have excellent oral communication, consultation and presentation skills to provide advice to senior management and act as a communications expert on ministry and inter-ministerial teams.
• You have proven interpersonal, conflict management and partnership skills to develop long-term relationships with clients.

Other Important Skills:

• You have excellent judgement when dealing with politically sensitive and contentious issues.
• You are proficient using a computer and associated software such as word-processing, e-mail, database and Internet/Intranet.
