The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming/Ministry of Sport/Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility/Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism Legal Branch of the Civil Law Division, Ministry of the Attorney General has an immediate opening for one legal counsel to provide legal support on priority government projects, with a focus on Gaming, as part of a collegial and experienced legal team.
About the job
Duties will include:
• Providing legal services and support to the client Ministries and agencies
• Providing legal advice with respect to Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming legislation relating to both land based and internet gaming
• Drafting orders in council, regulations and legislation as necessary
• Providing written and oral legal opinions to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming on gaming and other matters related to the client Ministries' mandate and interpretation of their legislation
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of legislation administered by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming with an emphasis on gaming related legislation;
• Experience in drafting orders in council, regulations and legislation
• Relevant legal research experience
