About the job

In this role, you will:
• coordinate, schedule, plan, oversee and manage electrical services in the general upkeep, installation and renovation of electrical services for electrical and electronic systems
• provide electrical and electronics related input/advice, oversee multi-year electrical services contracts related to design, construction, maintenance and operations activities
• ensure regular maintenance of electrical and electronic devices, ensuring that all work is completed according to contract documents and specifications
• perform emergency repairs as required

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You are a certified Maintenance/Construction Electrician (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A) under the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act.

Electrical expertise:

• You have knowledge of practices, procedures, specifications and standards related to the inspection/maintenance, installation and repair of electrical/electronic/navigational devices and their support structures.
• You have knowledge of electrical codes and safety procedures.
• You have knowledge of complex electrical systems and ability to create, read and review wiring diagrams and schematics.

Technical knowledge:

• You have experience with contract administration, including administrative procedures, reporting requirements and documentation.
• You can prepare detailed cost estimates for proposed work.
• You are able to administer contract terms, and make recommendations with respect to contractor payment certificates.
• You are able interpret and apply related regulations, policies, directives and manuals related to installation and repair of electrical/electronic equipment.

Communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills:

• You have effective communication skills to provide technical advice and recommendations.
• You have well developed written skills to prepare detailed cost estimates for proposed work.
• You have strong negotiation skills to deal effectively with contractors and consultants.
• You are able to deal effectively with ministry contacts and the public.
• You have supervisory and planning skills to direct and coordinate the activities of assigned ministry staff and contractors.
