About the job
As a Translation Coordinator, you will:
• Coordinate translation services for two ministries (Ministry of the Attorney General and the Ministry of the Solicitor General) by managing requests, assigning projects to internal or external providers, and ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and client needs.
• Serve as the primary liaison between clients and translation vendors, handling contract administration, resolving service issues, and processing payments and cost recovery through government systems.
• Prepare statistical and administrative reports, support special projects, and maintain accurate tracking of translation activities using internal systems.
• Perform a range of administrative and clerical duties, including drafting and proofreading bilingual correspondence, managing office supplies and equipment, and processing invoices and expense claims.
• Provide front-line support by answering calls, greeting visitors, managing calendars, coordinating travel and meetings, and responding to inquiries in both English and French.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the advanced level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.
• You can type 50 words per minute.
Administrative expertise:
• You have strong knowledge of administrative and office procedures, including managing translation projects, contracts, correspondence, invoices, and office supplies.
• You can effectively maintain filing systems, track inventory and assets, and process expense claims in accordance with established guidelines.
• You understand the French Language Services Act and related policies.
Customer service skills:
• You have excellent customer service skills and can build strong relationships with internal clients and external service providers to ensure high-quality translation services.
• You can manage translation service delivery by acting as the key liaison between clients and vendors, ensuring client needs are clearly understood and met.
• You have experience discussing service requirements and negotiating timelines to align with translation standards.
Communication skills:
• You can coordinate translation requests between English and French and French to English, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• You have communication skills to draft letters from brief instructions, edit correspondence, and prepare reports.
Computer skills:
• You have knowledge of electronic office equipment and can provide a full range of word processing services.
• You can effectively use software such as WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, databases, email, graphics, and Internet applications to create professional documents, charts, spreadsheets, and presentations.
