About the job
As part of the Indigenous Relations Support Services Section in the Divisional Support Branch, these positions will:
• Provide consultation and relationship-building advice on Indigenous initiatives.
• Support strategic implementation of Indigenous-related programs, consultations, and outreach.
• Coordinate and support ministry programs and agreements that support Indigenous collaboration.
• Provide operational leadership, guidance and advice across a variety of Indigenous initiatives.
What you bring to the team
Program and Project Management
• Experience leading projects involving Indigenous relations and initiatives.
• Effective project management including oversight of resources, contracts, and quality assurance.
• Ability to evaluate project effectiveness and modify strategies as needed.
• Issues management methods and techniques, and problem solving skills to resolve issues
• Leadership skills to plan, schedule and direct project development and delivery
Interpersonal and Consultation
• Build and maintain relationships with Provincial Territorial Organizations, Tribal Councils including Indigenous political organizations, First Nation and Métis communities.
• Work collaboratively with staff across ministries, governments, and jurisdictions.
• Use consultation, facilitation, and mediation skills to build partnerships, seek consensus on issues, and resolve concerns collaboratively.
• Provide advice and guidance to project teams, management, and inter-ministry committees.
Communication
• Ability to prepare and present various materials such as briefing notes, communication materials, and media responses.
• Facilitate and deliver presentations to colleagues, other ministries and agencies, NGOs, academia, and the public.
• Communicate complex, culturally specific, or technical information to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with the Ministry's Communications Branch on public-facing materials.
Analytical and Problem-Solving
• Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities ensuring alignment with ministry goals and enhance effectiveness.
• Evaluate and define project requirements and implementation strategies.
• Manage complex, sensitive, and time-critical issues.
• Analyze data and feedback to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Knowledge
• Knowledge and understanding of First Nation and Métis cultures, traditions, treaties, and rights.
• Knowledge of Ontario's Indigenous policies, frameworks, and inter-jurisdictional agreements.
