Join the Ministry Attorney General's Business Continuity and Emergency Management Unit and leverage your expertise in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, and Physical Security in this dynamic role. Be our on-site expert coordinating between our program responsibilities and our related responsibilities as the building lead at our ministry headquarters.

About the job

You will:

• Provide policy and program analysis services by conducting in-depth research studies, incident notification, security practices, performance measures/metrics and recommend options, strategies and best practices
• Coordinate and maintain the operations of the Ministry Emergency Management Program Committee
• Participate in operational planning and management processes
• Maintains the Emergency Response System including developing notification procedures, maintaining emergency contact lists, developing/maintaining support tools.

What you bring to the team


Knowledge of Emergency Management:

You have:

• Knowledge of emergency management, facilities operations, and physical security practices
• An understanding of emergency-related legislation, government policies, and directives to ensure compliance and safe operations
• Familiarity with security protocols, performance metrics, and decision-making processes used in emergency planning
• Awareness of issues management techniques and standards to support effective response and coordination

Research and Analytical Skills:

You have:

• Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of research methods to support planning and decision-making
• The ability to assess complex information and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
• Collect, organize and reflect data analytics to support decision making

Project and Program Management Skills:

You have:

• Experience coordinating committees and supporting emergency management program components
• Strong organizational skills to manage planning activities and keep projects on track

Communication Skills:

You have:

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work with senior staff, ministry teams, and stakeholders
• The ability to present findings, lead discussions, and prepare training materials
• Experience providing briefings, updates, and advisory support to various audiences

Computer Skills:

You have:

• Intermediate to advanced computer skills in data analysis, SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation tools
• The ability to work within Microsoft 365 and related applications such as Power BI

Additional Information:
This position is required to report to MAG headquarters in Toronto 5 days/week
Work Demands include Frequent unexpected work demands, changes to deadlines on short notice and tight time pressures due to tight timelines and deadlines.
Work extended hours and under stress during emergency responses
