About the job
In this role, you will:
• review legal and financial documents to protect the Ministry's interests in bankruptcy and insolvency cases
• analyze proposals, negotiate outcomes, and ensure proper documentation is filed
• register liens, prepare agendas, and handle routine correspondence
• provide administrative support to the unit
What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge and skills
You have:
• knowledge of legal processes and documents to analyze transactions, evaluate information from lawyers/trustees to determine the extent of liability, act as an inspector for bankrupt estates, participate in creditor meetings and present evidence in court when necessary.
• knowledge of basic accounting and investigative principles to determine the viability of proposals by scrutinizing statements of affairs and assessing financial arrangements.
• the ability to read and apply legislation
Communication and interpersonal skills
You have:
• oral communication skills and tact to liaise with clients professionally and courteously
• written communication skills to prepare letters, emails, and reports, and to proofread material
• interpersonal skills to build rapport and maintain professional relationships.
• negotiation and collaboration skills to arrange payment plans
Administrative and organizational skills
You have:
• prioritization skills and good judgement to determine the urgency of conflicting demands
• administrative skills to provide administrative support, such as preparing routine correspondence and maintaining electronic and hard copy filing systems
Computer proficiency:
You have experience with:
• computer programs like Word, Excel, and email to create and format documents, reports, and spreadsheets
• specialized databases and systems to find account information and assess payment history and compliance
