To succeed in this role, you will:

• Lead the efficient delivery of highway maintenance services in the Central Region, overseeing large-scale maintenance contractors
• Provide expertise on contract matters and ensure consistent contract management
• Offer advice and support on various managerial, technical, and contractual aspects related to maintenance contracts
• Address complex contract administration issues, including interpretation, performance, and disputes
• Undertake special assignments or studies on service delivery methods and organizational matters
• Review contract standards and implement new technologies related to maintenance

Meet Your New Team

The Operations Division leads ministry transportation activities by developing operational policies, delivering user-focused services, and managing transportation assets and infrastructure. We oversee regional corridors, emergency management, and highway maintenance and operations. The division also plays a key role in building and managing transportation-related partnerships and advocating for regional priorities across the province.

What you bring to the team


Mandatory:

• Must be licensed to practice with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

Leadership Experience:

Team Management: You lead and develop diverse teams of professional, technical, and support staff, resolving personnel issues effectively.

Strategic and Technical Expertise:

Highway Maintenance Knowledge: You bring advanced understanding of civil engineering principles related to highway and corridor maintenance.
Contract and Asset Management: You are experienced in maintenance contract administration and infrastructure lifecycle planning.
Policy and Standards: You apply ministry policies and engineering standards to ensure technical consistency and service quality.
Analytical Thinking: You assess technical recommendations and operational plans with sound judgment and insight.

Project and Operational Management:

Project Oversight: You manage complex maintenance programs and solve engineering challenges under pressure.
Operational Planning: You bring experience in corridor management, emergency response coordination, and service delivery.
Resource Management: You oversee financial, human, and material resources to support regional operations.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

Stakeholder Engagement: You build respectful, ethical relationships with stakeholders.
Issues Management: You navigate sensitive issues with diplomacy and provide strategic advice to senior leadership.
Communication: You prepare clear, concise reports, briefings, and presentations on operational matters.
