About Us
The Marine Services unit plays a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and safety of the government-owned marine fleet and shore-based infrastructure. We provide 24/7 engineering support, lead maintenance and capital projects, and ensure regulatory compliance to maintain safe and reliable ferry operations across the region.

About the job

The Marine Services Office engages in operational policy, communications and operational oversight related to provincial ferry services. In this unique, fast-paced Team Lead role, you will do things like:
• Oversee daily project team activities and provide project management oversight
• Lead high-complexity projects and discussions with key partners
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis and develop risk management strategies
• Improve project delivery performance
• Advise on change management and build cross-ministry relationships
• Lead committees and working groups to resolve issues

What you bring to the team


Leadership and Project Management Skills:

You have:
• demonstrated team leadership skills
• knowledge of project management theory, methodologies and techniques
• experience developing and delivering complex and concurrent projects
• organizational and planning skills

Business Knowledge:

You bring expertise in:
• marine operations and engineering principles including maintenance planning, dry dock preparation, and technical project oversight
financial and procurement policies, systems, and processes
• government decision-making processes and protocols
• enterprise risk management principles and methodologies
• building and implementing sustainable control plans
• developing effective controls for monitoring and compliance

Relationship Management Skills:

You have:
• experience building and maintaining effective working relationships
• demonstrated negotiation skills
• demonstrated consensus-building and conflict-resolution skills
• demonstrated influencing skills

Communication and Strategic Thinking Skills:

You have:
• proven verbal and written communication skills
• experience facilitating discussions, negotiating solutions, and delivering presentations
• experience preparing briefings, presentations and other project-related materials
• the ability to organize, sequence, and clearly communicate complex technical work across vessel systems and dockside infrastructure—often under time pressure or with competing operational demands
• a strategic mindset that anticipates scheduling impacts, regulatory windows, and operational risk when planning and coordinating marine projects
• demonstrated political acuity to work strategically with management and partners
• ability to make decisions and recommendations to mitigate risks
