Huronia Historical Parks, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming is seeking highly motivated individuals with strong leadership, front-line operational delivery, and strategic planning capacity to express their interest for the roles of Program Supervisor for Wasaga Beach Operations.

A Program Supervisor at Huronia Historical Parks plays a crucial role in overseeing staff, including on-call, students and contract workers, who are responsible for the design and execution of all visitor facing programs and events, including educational and specialized programs, contractor delivered programs and managing multiple special events annually. The supervisor manages up to 40 staff members, depending on seasonal needs. The mission of Huronia Historical Parks is to act as stewards of heritage, managing significant assets, and delivering on Ministry business objectives. The HHP consists of visitor focused organizations with education-based programming, special events, restaurants, and managing rental spaces among many other heritage assets. Essential skills for this role include strong business acumen, leadership, community partnership development, HR and performance management, and recruitment.

Please note:

This dynamic frontline role thrives on your physical presence at the site. The Program Supervisor is expected to be on-site five days a week. Huronia Historical Parks sites are open seven days per week during peak season and sporadically throughout the off season. The role also requires weekend, evening, and night work based on operational needs. There is also travel to various locations and other HHP sites in the area.

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of their business goals. As the Program Supervisor, you will:
  • Oversee guest services, programming, and weekend coverage at attractions.
  • Ensure staff presence and program delivery for visiting groups and bus tours.
  • Evaluate and assist with reconciliation of retail products.
  • Support operational logistics including sourcing and procuring goods and ensuring timely onsite delivery.
  • Respond to emergency reports and maintain proper sequencing of tasks.
  • Monitor and address maintenance issues proactively.


What you bring to the team


Leadership Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, monitor performance, and foster a culture of excellence in customer service and operational delivery.
  • Skilled in setting priorities, managing tight deadlines, and maintaining accuracy under pressure.
  • Proven experience in managing financial budgets and human resources, including handling labour relations and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Strong judgment and political acuity to provide authoritative advice and guidance to senior management.
  • Ability to oversee scheduling, sourcing, and operational sequencing to ensure smooth program execution.


Program Management Skills:

  • Lead the design and implementation of educational and specialized programs that reflect the historical significance of Huronia Historical Parks.
  • Utilize historical research and data to create accurate, engaging, and educational public programs and events.
  • Ensure programs meet educational standards and deliver meaningful learning experiences for diverse audiences.
  • Apply procurement and inventory management expertise to support program logistics and resource availability.
  • Maintain awareness of site maintenance needs and respond proactively to ensure operational readiness.


Communication and Stakeholder Relationship Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to advise senior managers and staff, and present strategic recommendations.
  • Build and maintain key partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including volunteers, service providers, and other government agencies.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across internal teams and external partners to support program success.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage emergency response situations and communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Represent the organization in community and inter-ministerial forums to advocate for program goals and heritage stewardship.
