If so, consider joining the Ontario Public Service (OPS) as a Team Lead, for Ontario's One Project, One Process (1P1P) initiative.

In this role, you will provide dedicated project management and leadership of Mine Authorization and Permitting Delivery Teams (MAPDTs) with the objective of supporting advanced exploration and mine development projects across the province. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, work with industry and government partners, and play a central role in shaping responsible mineral development in alignment with provincial priorities.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• Provide strategic guidance and advice on advanced exploration and mine development projects that require multiple provincial permits, approvals, and authorizations within Ontario's regulatory framework.
• Lead and coordinate MAPDTs to manage projects and guide stakeholders through permitting and regulatory requirements.
• Build relationships and facilitate consultation with Indigenous communities, other provincial ministries, municipalities and federal authorities.
• Develop and implement integrated permitting and authorization plans for 1P1P designated projects.
• Mentor, coach, and direct staff, ensuring effective teamwork and delivery of results.
• Promote the 1P1P initiative through presentations, stakeholder engagement and conferences.
• Advise on and complete the preparation of a variety of reports, issue notes and briefing materials.

NOTE: Frequent travel may be required

What you bring to the team


Leadership and Project Management:

You have:
• project management skills and experience, including organizing and supervising teams, assigning and prioritizing work, reviewing and reporting on progress,
• experience providing project and team leadership for multi-disciplinary projects, including providing guidance, advice, mentoring and training
• ability to provide strategic advice to senior management and other ministry/government stakeholders on issues impacting program delivery

Mineral Development and Regulatory Knowledge and Skills:

You have:

• knowledge and skills demonstrated in a discipline related to mineral development (e.g. mining, engineering, natural resource management & geological & environmental science), and/or related experience in the mining industry.
• knowledge and skills demonstrated in multidisciplinary social and technical issues (e.g., environmental, sustainability, social responsibility).
• knowledge and skills demonstrated in mineral development related programs, policies, related municipal, provincial and federal legislation and regulations having impacts on mineral development
• the ability to establish a network of mineral sector stakeholder, Indigenous community and government agency and ministry decision maker and specialist contacts to support collaboration, information exchange and issues resolution.

Indigenous Consultation and Cultural Competency:

You have:
• knowledge of Indigenous peoples in Ontario including history, culture, Indigenous & Treaty rights, consensus building and persuasive skills to resolve disputes, facilitate communications, and help mitigate issues.
• experience developing relationships, resolving issues, leading consultations to assess and accommodate Indigenous and Treaty rights.

Communication, Interpersonal and Stakeholder Management Skills:

You have:
• excellent communication skills to exchange information, provide advice and recommendations, prepare reports, and deliver presentations
• excellent presentation skills to communicate mineral development, regulatory and policy information and concepts

Analytical & Problem Solving Skills:

You have:
• the ability to support the implementation of initiatives, obtain information, review and evaluate information/proposals and monitor project deliverables
• the ability to research and evaluate information, determine impacts, identify priorities and recommend solutions when providing expert advice, writing minister letters or briefing notes and communicating with decision makers
• the ability and experience to review and assess legislative, scientific, technical and/or economic documents/databases, make authoritative recommendations on programs, projects, proposals, policy and issues resolution.
