At Emergency Management Ontario (EMO), we are responsible for the promotion, development, implementation and maintenance of effective emergency management programs throughout Ontario and for the coordination of these programs with the federal government.
The Nuclear, Radiological and Scientific Response Programs Branch develops and maintains the provincial nuclear emergency management program. This includes coordinating provincial scientific activities, emergency plans, programs, exercises, procedures and policies to support Ontario's off-site responsibilities in the preparedness for, response to, and recovery from a nuclear or radiological incidents. Furthermore, the Branch provides advice and assistance to a broad range of public sector partners (provincial, federal, municipal, Indigenous) and private sector stakeholders, particularly with respect to their nuclear accountabilities under the Provincial Nuclear Emergency Response Plan. NRSRP Branch is currently working on the design of the Nuclear Emergency Management Program Enhancement Program (NEMP). The NEMP is a novel and made-in-Ontario program which will be the forefront of global innovation and design in the nuclear emergency management sector. The NEMP will ensure Ontario is safe, practiced and prepared from a nuclear and radiological perspective from now and long into its future.

We are seeking Senior Nuclear Program Advisors to provide expert leadership and strategic analysis in the development and implementation of policies and programs that support provincial nuclear emergency management goals.
About the job
As a Senior Nuclear Program Advisor, you will provide project leadership, advice, expertise, and strategic analysis in developing and implementing new or amended policies and programs.
In this role you will:
• Plan and organize program development and implementation activities related to the provincial nuclear emergency management
• Lead development and implementation of performance standards and metrics
• Lead and design projects and/or participates on a variety of projects
• Provide advice, expertise and recommendations to branch/ministry management
• Develop and lead consultation, education and engagement initiatives
• Coordinate and/or develop Cabinet/Treasury/Management Board submissions, briefing materials, reports, and presentations
NOTE: This position will require occasional travel within the province
What you bring to the team
Technical Knowledge:
You have:
• Knowledge of federal emergency management, related legislation, regulations, and policies/programs.
• Advanced knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of nuclear emergency management, provincial and federal emergency management.
• Advanced knowledge of issues affecting the province, nuclear emergency management trends and developments in academic and scientific communities.
Leadership and Project Management:
You can:
• Lead and coordinate project teams in program development.
• Plan, organize, coordinate and control work of multiple project teams and project team members and external consultants.
Communications and Interpersonal Skills:
You can:
• Provide advice to senior management, peers and internal and external stakeholders on the development and implementation of new approaches to nuclear emergency management (e.g. compliance policy).
• Coordinate and develop Ministerial/Cabinet level briefings, and other policy materials.
• Use oral and written communication skills to prepare, present, and communicate written material, reports, briefs, notes, and other technical material and submissions to senior management.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You can:
• Perform strategic analysis related to nuclear emergency management issues ( compliance policy, permitting policy, economic instruments).
• Develop new work methods, procedures, and techniques, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of strategic analyses processes.
