We are looking for a Social Worker at the Quinte Detention Centre to provide vital assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning for individuals in custody. This is more than a job—it's an opportunity to be part of a team that values compassion, integrity, and transformative care.

About the job
• Formulate reintegration/release plans in collaboration with professional and community partners and inmates
• Provide crisis intervention services
• Prepare clinical assessments and statistical reports
• Collaborate on multidisciplinary care plans
• Facilitate group and individual rehabilitative programming
• Provide one-to- one counselling
• Participate in social work research activities and evaluate treatment programs and services
• Provide social work consultation and training to staff
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You are currently registered as a Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
Specialized Knowledge and Experience
You:
• have in-depth knowledge of, and experience putting social work theories and practices into action, often gained through a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a Master of Social Work (MSW), to develop treatment plans, conduct therapy (individual and group), and manage crisis interventions.
• know risk assessment tools and rehabilitative/treatment options, and community services to support inmate classification and reintegration.
• understand how the justice system in Ontario operates.
• can interpret and apply relevant legislation and operational policies and procedures (e.g., Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Social Work and Social Service Work Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act).
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
You:
• engage with clients, staff, and community agencies.
• provide counselling and assessments for offenders with complex needs and build rapport with individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds.
• have experience working in multidisciplinary settings, with proven discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential matters.
• possess clear writing skills to prepare case documentation and reports.
Analytical Skills
You
• know how to gather, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify inmate needs, develop and adjust treatment and case management plans, and apply rehabilitative and therapeutic interventions during crises.
• can develop/modify rehabilitative, treatment, and case management plans.
Organizational Skills
• You can manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain adequate records
