To succeed in this role, you will:
• On a rotational basis, provide 24/7, on-site management oversight for provincial dispatch, body transportation programs, and mortuary services.
• Lead and manage provincial dispatch and mortuary services, ensuring the development, delivery, evaluation, and enhancement of programs, systems, policies, and procedures.
• Provide direction and leadership to dispatchers and mortuary staff to ensure effective and efficient operations.
• Oversee the development and implementation of operational training, policies, procedures, and stringent health and safety protocols for mortuary and body management services.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance policies and standard operating procedures throughout the death investigation process.
• Coordinate facilities management requests, equipment procurement, and associated financial responsibilities within a contact centre and complex service delivery environment.
• Develop and recommend evidence-based program and service delivery options, as well as best operational practices and standards in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
• Participate in modernizing operational policies, procedures, and standards to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
What you bring to the team
Leadership Experience:
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, along with sound judgement and political acuity to deal with a variety of sensitive issues.
• Team-focused leadership style to deliver integrated program objectives while facilitating a positive working environment and developing inclusive and engaged teams and partnerships.
• Strong planning and analytical skills to assess information and situations, develop and implement solutions, and commitment to innovation and service excellence.
• Ability to champion and lead change initiatives related to business, process, procedure, and/or organizational changes.
• Capability to manage staff, set work priorities, evaluate performance, and manage employee relations issues.
Technical Expertise:
• Experience in large call center and client service environments and related workflows.
• Planning, analytical, and policy and program development skills to implement programs, lead program evaluation, assess impacts, and identify service delivery issues.
• Knowledge, or the ability to obtain knowledge, of body handling, mortuary management, and evidence handling practices, as well as the death investigation process to ensure continuous improvement in death investigations.
• Knowledge, or the ability to obtain knowledge, of relevant legislation and regulations related to death investigations and forensic pathology (e.g., the Coroners Act, the Anatomy Act, FIPPA).
• Awareness of government and ministry financial, administrative, and procurement policies and directives to plan and manage resources and current best practices.
Communication and Relationship Management Skills:
• Experience in developing and sustaining strong staff and stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and managing contentious issues and determining resolutions through consultation and negotiation.
• Strong communication skills with experience translating ideas into business cases, operational plans, reports, and presentations.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, participating, and managing the preparation of briefing materials, issues papers, presentations, and responses to information requests from Executive offices in all matters related to quality compliance.
• Ability to ensure confidentiality and accuracy of highly sensitive materials related to death investigations.
