About the job
What you'll do as a Senior Economist:
• Analyze and shape income security policies and programs.
• Lead research and data analysis to support policy decisions.
• Work with other ministries to assess social, economic, and fiscal impacts.
• Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for senior leaders.
• Build forecasting models and explore policy options.
• Contribute to major government initiatives like the Budget and Fall Economic Statement.
• Manage issues and communications related to income security.
What you bring to the team
Policy and Research Skills
You have:
• Experience developing policy options and providing advice to senior leaders.
• The ability to analyze complex issues and assess the impact of policy proposals.
• A track record of using research and data to support sound decision-making.
• Experience evaluating income security and pension programs and proposed changes.
Technical and Analytical Expertise
You have:
• Knowledge of income security programs and related social policy areas.
• A background in economics, political science, public/business administration, or a related field.
• Skills in building and maintaining economic or financial models.
• Experience using statistical methods and tools like Excel, databases, and analytics software.
• The ability to coordinate advanced quantitative research with other analysts.
Communication and Collaboration Skills:
You have:
• Strong writing skills for reports, briefings, and policy documents.
• The ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional teams.
• A collaborative approach to building relationships across government.
