Your knowledge of database technologies and solutions will be instrumental in ensuring our data environments are secure, resilient, and responsive to evolving needs.
About the job
As part of our team, you will:
• maintain and administer databases to ensure they are patched, tuned, recoverable, and secure
• support new projects by providing database solutions and assisting with day-to-day operational activities
• lead corporate database design and development projects
• recommend data management strategies that align with organizational goals and industry best practices
• provide support to resolve complex and unique database management issues
Please note: Job requires shifts, on-call, standby, and occasional call-back to provide technical support to ministry critical systems on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis.

What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge
You have experience with:
• Enterprise database technologies, such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or cloud-native platforms like AWS RDS and Azure SQL
• Oracle tools and environments, including RAC, Data Guard, OEM, Exadata, GoldenGate, and Data Masking — or equivalent tools that support enterprise-level database environments
• Cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Oracle Cloud, and can apply cloud-based solutions to support enterprise data systems
• Database development and performance tuning, using advanced SQL and programming languages commonly used in database environments
• Infrastructure and application environments, including:
- midrange server hardware and operating systems
- web-based application architecture, middleware, application servers, web servers
- reporting services, business intelligence and analytics
- data integration (ETL), workload automation, scripting languages
- secure gateways, public/private key management, and performance monitoring tools
• ITIL principles, including incident and problem management, change and release management, and disaster recovery planning
• Current and emerging I&IT trends, including hardware platforms, software, networks, databases, applications, infrastructure services, and testing and implementation methodologies
Planning and problem-solving skills
You bring the ability to:
• identify and troubleshoot complex incidents related to database installation, administration, and performance
• analyze large-scale system incidents and recommend solutions that meet user needs, while providing insights into the impact of problems or planned changes
• conduct research, evaluate options, and recommend solutions
• assess design alternatives by performing research and developing innovative approaches that deliver measurable and effective results
Analytical and evaluative skills
You bring the ability to:
• develop complex query programs to extract information and generate reports from production and test databases
• evaluate and recommend new or additional hardware and software requirements for new database systems
• assess and develop proposals for system enhancements
Communication and interpersonal skills
You bring the ability to:
• guide clients through database design alternatives
• deliver both formal and informal training sessions to staff, and present emerging data management technologies to senior leadership
• develop system documentation, training materials, and evaluation reports
• collaborate with application developers to align data management requirements
• advise clients on the feasibility, benefits, and limitations of various design options
