About the job

You will:
• Perform legal and administrative duties in support of screening, disclosure and other case management practices in the Crown Attorney's office
• Liaise with accused, defence counsel, police, victims, witnesses, judiciary and justice related agencies
• Arrange issue resolution meetings
• Assess trial readiness
• Conduct research and co-ordinate special projects
• Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures in support of the Case Management function
• Ensure prosecution files are maintained and relevant actions recorded

What you bring to the team


Legal Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of substantive criminal law, court systems and ability to work within policies, practices and procedures related to the administration of criminal justice
• You have an understanding of legal terminology and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation
• You have an understanding of criminal law evidence and procedures
• You have research and analytical skills to assist the Crown Attorney in locating appropriate case law

Administrative Skills:

• You have excellent planning, administrative, time management and organizational skills
• You have strong research and analytical skills to effectively support screening, disclosure, pre-trials, diversion and other case management practices
• You have the ability to meet statutory and administrative deadlines

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You have excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
• You can exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
• You have demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team with minimum supervision

Computer Proficiency:

• You have computer skills and knowledge of related software including experience using databases
