- Hours are commonly 36.25 hours per week but may fluctuate based on the timing of special events, programs and seasonal demands

About the job
In this role, you will:
• Plan and coordinate the development, execution, and evaluation of all new and existing event-based programming from concept to completion.
• Create, plan, direct, implement, and evaluate innovative redesign opportunities for existing and new events from concept to completion to generate increased exposure and visibility, attract more visitors, lure new market segments, and increase revenue.
• Plan, implement, and maintain all material and content for existing and new events and initiatives, including programming plans, conceptual outlines, budgets, and revenue/expenditure estimates.
• Lead management of event opportunities and relationships with clients and partners to create and coordinate events and rentals.
• Coordinate and collaborate with subject matter experts in corporate services and marketing services support units.
• Coordinate regular, on-call, and student staff deployment and event volunteers and partners.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You must have a minimum of a valid driver's license class “G” or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
Event Planning and Project Management Skills:
You can demonstrate an ability to:
• Utilize event design and implementation techniques and best practices to conceive, plan, coordinate, and implement large public events and assist with new initiatives;
• Utilize project management techniques and strategies to plan, direct, implement, and evaluate multiple, concurrent project initiatives from concept to completion within established deadlines, budgets, and deliverables;
• Lead teams of staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Communications and Marketing Skills:
You can:
• Identify and execute opportunities which generate increased exposure and visibility, attract more visitors and clients, lure new market segments, and generate added revenue;
• Understand trends in tourism and entertainment and leverage them to increase attendance and revenue through focused event design, evaluation, and re-design;
• Assist with the development and implementation of communication strategies and plans and collaborate with support services and partners to market special events, promotions, and partnership opportunities;
• Write and edit various materials;
• Use Microsoft Office for presentations and documents;
• Employ oral and written communication skills to represent the organization and prepare a variety of written materials.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You can:
• Assess market trends and customer survey data to plan and coordinate a range of special events which are innovative and meet the goal of increased attendance and revenue;
• Develop business cases, communications strategies, and plans for project initiatives;
• Research to support and enhance existing special event programming and to support new initiatives;
• Evaluate and prepare, present and distribute evaluations of special events including achievement vs. objectives and return on investment;
• Problem-solve to resolve a range of ongoing issues on time to ensure the success of all project initiatives;
• Listen to identify, understand, and resolve/implement partner, stakeholder, and management feedback.
