In this role, you will provide business and financial services to branches that have a complex funding model. You will be a key member of the Financial Planning and Advisory to provide critical and actionable financial information, recommendations, solutions and advice to senior management and stakeholders. You must be a hands-on self-starter who is ready, willing and able to fully engage in the operational business. You must have excellent analytical, consultation and communication skills to work in a challenging, deadline-driven environment with a diverse workload.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• provide financial and analytical expertise on the management of transfer payments and emergency health services grants
• monitor business planning activities and allocations, and perform financial planning, monitoring and analysis, forecasting and variance analysis
• provide financial policy development and co-ordination support
• conduct research and make sound recommendations
• conduct financial tracking and reporting to assess financial status and issues
• prepare briefing materials to support senior management decision-making

What you bring to the team


Financial knowledge and experience

• you have knowledge of accounting, auditing and financial principles, concepts and best practices
• you are experienced in financial planning and budget development, monitoring, forecasting, variance analysis, controllership and risk management
• you are familiar with financial and business planning policies, requirements and processes in a large, complex organization

Problem-solving and analytical skills

• you can analyze, interpret and decipher information effectively
• you can formulate sound recommendations to financial issues

Communication and consultation skills

• you are an excellent oral communicator who can provide sound advice and accurate information on financial policies and practices to stakeholders
• you have excellent written communication skills allowing you to communicate effectively, gain support from program areas, and deliver presentations to managers and stakeholders
• you can develop and sustain partnerships with stakeholders

Project management and organizational skills

• you can lead financial projects, and coordinate a variety of budgeting and financial activities
• you can work under pressure and organize your workload in an environment of competing demands

Computer skills

• you have demonstrated experience working with word-processing, spreadsheet, database and/or presentation applications to prepare high-quality reports and presentations
