About the job
In this role, you will:
• develop and deliver branch communication strategies, plans, and outreach initiatives that align with ministry priorities
• create and manage multimedia content such as videos, photos, and e-learning materials, including scripting, filming, editing, and maintaining the branch photo/video library
• provide multimedia support across the branch, including training staff on editing tools
• lead special projects and promotional initiatives, such as video testimonials (for recruitment), safety and training videos, web content, brochures, multi-media presentations etc.
• research and analyze communication needs to design effective strategies and marketing programs, identify emerging issues, and develop clear, accurate materials for public and stakeholder audiences
• play a supporting role during emergency response events, and build strong communication networks within the branch and across ministries
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
The position requires the successful candidates to have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidates providing proof that they have a valid driver's license upon being hired.
Communications, media relations and technical skills:
You can:
• apply knowledge of communications theory and techniques, planning methods, media relations, and publication processes to develop clear communication strategies and determine the appropriate style, tone and approach for communications materials
• use word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and desktop publishing tools to design and produce materials
• work with desktop publishing and graphic tools to develop titles, images, and edit videos
• apply creativity and design stills to develop materials that align with established standards (e.g. Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and frameworks
Research, analytical and problem-solving skills:
You can:
• analyze communication needs and develop strategies, plans, project management, and briefing materials
• demonstrate problem-solving skills by coordinating communications activities, addressing client concerns, and resolving production problems
• assess new technologies and equipment and evaluate requirements for upgrades
Communication skills:
You can:
• write and edit clear, accurate materials such as brochures, press releases, and ads, ensuring proper style, grammar, and flow
• translate technical or specialized information into plain language for the public while maintaining accuracy
• demonstrate oral communication and interpersonal skills to explain programs and initiatives, discuss client needs, and respond to queries from the public and media
• work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with various client groups in a professional and diplomatic manner
Planning and coordination skills:
You can:
• demonstrate planning skills to provide input for new training programs and simulation development
• coordinate projects through multiple revisions and provide clients with clear options
• manage several projects at the same time while meeting tight deadlines
