About the job
As a Business and Finance Assistant you may have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, tasks, and initiatives. Some examples may include:
- Prepare, verify, process, and reconcile financial data
- Support staff in developing business proposals, reports, spreadsheets, and other business/financial documents
- Assist staff with transfer payment activities
- Conduct research and perform analysis (i.e. quantitative, qualitative, statistical).
- Prepare and organize correspondence, perform data entry and word processing functions, and create various documents
- Support audit, accounting, and risk management functions
NOTE: Some positions are available with the Ontario Financing Authority. For these roles, you may engage in the following: leverage mathematical/analytical skills and industry-leading applications and programming languages (e.g., Bloomberg, Python, SQL, PowerBI), to monitor developments in government bond and financial markets, for the Province's capital market positions and risk exposure management.

Mandatory requirements
You must meet all eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July):
- Student Status: You must be enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary institution (currently or for the fall semester) OR you must have graduated within the past six months (for example, if you graduated in December, you can apply for and start a summer student position up until June of the following year).
- Age: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
- Residency: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment.
- Work Status: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the full duration of your summer employment.
