As part of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, you'll play a key role in developing plans, supporting response efforts, and building strong partnerships both within the ministry and within the energy sector that help protect staff, facilities, and critical services.

About the job

You will,

• Lead and coordinate emergency management, security, and business continuity programs and plans for all ministry locations;
• Support ministry response and recovery during emergency and security events, ensuring clear processes and effective communication;
• Conduct threat and risk assessments and support compliance with legislation, standards, and OPS protocols;
• Design and deliver training, exercises, and awareness activities to strengthen emergency readiness and staff capability;
• Develop strong partnerships across the ministry, OPS partners, and external agencies to support integrated planning;
• Contribute to policy, guidelines, briefing materials, and reports to support senior leadership decision-making.

Please note:
• You will be required to be on 24/7 standby to notify Ministry Action Group members of response to an emergency situation

Emergency Management & Security Knowledge

Use your subject-matter expertise to support a safe, secure, and resilient organization.

• Knowledge of emergency management, physical security, business continuity, and relevant legislation and policies;
• Experience developing and implementing emergency and security plans, protocols, and continuity strategies;
• Understanding of threat/risk assessment practices and security procedures to prevent or mitigate security issues.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Apply your relationship-building and communication strengths to support collaboration and clear decision-making across the ministry and the energy sector.

• Strong consulting and influence skills to support senior leaders, staff, and partners;
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Sound judgment and political acuity when navigating sensitive or complex situations;
• Clear verbal and written communication skills to prepare briefings, reports, training materials, and presentations.

Analytical & Critical Thinking

Bring your analytical mindset to assess risks, strengthen preparedness, and recommend effective solutions.

• Ability to analyze emergency risks, trends, and impacts and recommend mitigation strategies;
• Skill in evaluating emergency management and business continuity plans for improvements;
• Capacity to assess policy, program, and operational impacts and provide strategic advice to senior leaders

Project Planning & Coordination Skills

Bring strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.

• Ability to coordinate projects, initiatives, and reviews with competing deadlines;
• Experience planning and delivering training, exercises, and program updates;
• Skill in coordinating processes and information across teams and service partners
