The Ministry of Natural Resources' Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) program is seeking an organized and motivated individual to support the delivery of capital construction, infrastructure, and facilities management projects. In this role, you will contribute to planning, coordination, and project support that helps ensure AFFES facilities and assets are safe, functional, and ready to serve.

The AFFES program coordinates forest fire detection, monitoring, suppression and public information and education services for Ontario. AFFES also provides aviation services for the Ontario government and leads emergency management planning and response for natural hazards such as forest fires, floods, erosion, dam failures, unstable soils and bedrock, droughts, and oil and gas emergencies.

About the job

You will:

• Support and participate in project planning teams for facility reviews, feasibility studies, and infrastructure design work
• Help develop project background, purpose, and objectives to support detailed designs
• Assist with project planning activities, including reviewing bids and procurement materials
• Contribute to the development of AFFES 3- to 10-year capital plans
• Conduct site assessments to identify capital repair, restoration, and maintenance needs
• Provide project and capital planning advice and support to management

What you bring to the team


Facilities, Infrastructure and Capital Project Expertise

You bring:

• Experience and/or knowledge in facilities, accommodations, assets, and infrastructure management to support planning, construction, and portfolio activities.
• The ability to understand and apply relevant legislation, policies, and standards related to facilities and capital projects (e.g., building, safety, and environmental requirements).

Project Management, Coordination and Delivery

You can:

• Support capital projects, including planning, coordination, budgeting, procurement, and contract management.
• Plan and organize work, manage deadlines, and contribute to project teams with different areas of expertise.
• Provide practical project support and coordination in a fast-paced environment.

Financial, Administrative and Analytical Skills

You have:

• The ability to work with financial information, business cases, and project documentation while supporting multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to review information, identify risks, and support sound decision-making.
• Comfort using common computer tools, systems, and databases to track work and share information.

Communication and stakeholder relationship management

You bring:

• The ability to communicate clearly, provide advice, and prepare project documents such as plans, studies, and proposals.
• Experience in building respectful and collaborative working relationships with contractors, consultants, partners, and internal teams.
