Lead logistics operations that support wildfire response in Northeast OntarioThe
Ministry of Natural Resources, Aviation, Forest Fires and Emergency Services Branch is seeking an experienced leader to join its team as
Logistics Supervisor. In this role, your leadership helps ensure frontline operations are equipped to respond during critical situations. You will lead a regional logistics team and oversee equipment, supplies, and warehouse operations to ensure resources are in place for both planned and active fire response. You guide staff, manage budgets, contracts, and plan logistics support during periods of increased activity.
The role also supports equipment maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives, contributes to research and evaluation activities in collaboration with provincial, national, and international partners, and ensures adherence to health and safety standards. Through these efforts, the position helps sustain a dependable logistics program that enables effective emergency response across Ontario while enhancing service delivery within an evolving operational environment.

Meet Your New TeamYou will lead a team of administrative and warehouse staff based in the Sudbury logistics centre who support operational and program delivery. Team members manage equipment flow, inventory, and daily logistics activities, each contributing to the broader provincial logistics program.
The team works in a fast-paced environment during periods of increased activity and coordinates across multiple priorities. Work is carried out with a level of independence, supported by clear direction, structured processes, and strong coordination. The team continues to adapt as the program evolves, with a focus on improving how work is delivered and maintaining safe, reliable operations.
What you bring to the team
Leadership Skills
- You model personal and professional integrity and understand the value of building working relationships and working collaboratively with internal staff and external agencies/vendors to review, improve and provide effective logistics client services.
- You understand leadership principles and practices and have experience building and leading effective teams in a large complex diverse work force.
- You have demonstrated leadership and operational management skills to develop, motivate and inspire staff to achieve results in a changing environment.
- You have effective planning skills to coordinate and oversee program and service delivery.
- You have experience developing and implementing practical solutions to unique and complex issues.

Organization and Problem-Solving Skills
- You have analytical and planning knowledge and skills to prepare short term and long-term plans for detailed work planning, capital planning and logistics program improvements.
- You have strong organizational and problem-solving skills and experience providing effective delivery of services and support to achieve program objectives.
- You have proven experience with project management to effectively plan and implement activities and initiatives across the province, including conducting program reviews and the development of recommendations for program improvements.
Communication and Relationship Management Skills
- You can deliver results by listening and acting on feedback from staff/managers/external clients and by resolving issues professionally.
- You can author and edit reports, business cases, operating procedures, plans and briefing materials, explain logistics policy, directives and operating guidelines and ensure directions are clearly understood.
- You have thorough knowledge of and ability to explain a wide range of Acts, manuals, policies, and procedures (e.g. Collective Agreements, FFSE Standards Manual, AFFES Expenditure and Financial Guidelines, etc.).
Technical Skills
- You have a sound understanding of the principles of logistics support for wildland fire control operations to strategically plan resource requirements and assess strategy/plan effectiveness.
- You have thorough knowledge of the utilization, recycle and maintenance needs of wildland fire suppression equipment and specialized equipment systems to ensure standards are maintained.
- You have knowledge of and experience with the application of performance measurement techniques to develop performance measures and evaluate program performance.
- You have a sound understanding of contract/tender development and management processes to develop and manage contract and tender agreements.
