Your administration skills, tact, and confidentiality will assist you greatly in this role supporting the Regional Senior Justice (Superior Court of Justice) in West Region.

About the job

You will:
• Compose correspondence and respond to inquiries based on own knowledge of legal and regional activities and functions
• Compile and maintain a variety of hardcopy and electronic databases, including confidential judicial information
• Prioritize and manage the Justice's schedule, using discretion to make appointments, coordinate meetings, court dates and conferences
• Provide general administrative support, such as reviewing and sorting incoming mail, providing reception services and responding to inquiries on legal office policies, procedures and terminology

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements

• You are able to type 50 words per minute and dicta skills to Ministry standards (70%)
(Note: You will be required to complete a typing and dicta test)

Technical knowledge:

• You have knowledge of Superior/Ontario Courts systems and practices, including knowledge of legal terminology.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of office administration including financial policies and purchasing practices.

Organizational, communication and analytical skills:

• You have organizational skills to prioritize your work and to manage the Justice's schedule, meet deadlines and to establish and maintain effective and efficient filing systems.
• You have demonstrated oral and written communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, develop correspondence and respond to requests for information.
• You have good judgement and professionalism to work with sensitive and confidential matters.
• You have negotiation and problem solving skills to resolve issues and challenges.

Computer skills:

• You are proficient with computer software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet, to perform a full range of functions, including manipulating text to provide letters and legal documents, conducting research, producing reports, compiling statistics and preparing presentations.
• You are proficient with using online platforms to schedule meetings such as Zoom and Teams.
