About the job

In this role, you will:

• develop, maintain and coordinate provincial and regional Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) courses
• provide subject matter expertise to learners and trainers
• select instructors, schedule courses, prepare and score tests, exams and field exercises
• develop training maintenance programs
• maintain budget in relations to training activities

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements:

• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Training and communication skills:

• You have a high level of training skills (i.e. Instructor training course) in order to provide or facilitate training.
• You have proven experience with curriculum design, development, and implementation techniques.
• You have proven oral and written communication skills to prepare course materials and explain information accurately.

Forest fire knowledge:

• You have comprehensive knowledge in fire line qualifications and certification requirements.
• You have the ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures relating to fire operations.
• You have thorough knowledge of fire control operations, including water bombing, helitack, fire crew systems, service and support and the command and control response system.
• You have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Project management and budget knowledge:

• You have strong project management experience and skills.
• You have knowledge of work program planning, budget, cost control processes and purchasing processes.

Computer skills:

• You are proficient with personal computers and various software packages including graphics, presentation software, spreadsheets and word processing.
• You are familiar with the operation of a wide variety of audio, visual, simulators and other instruction equipment.
