Be the link that keeps communications activities organized, tracked, and running smoothly

Join a Communications Branch where your work helps shape how key information is shared and understood. In this role, you'll work with advisors across the branch including strategic planning, media and issues management, digital, creative, and public engagement to collect and analyze information that supports communications strategies and messaging. You'll track and present data to support real-time project management and long-term planning, while also supporting the Director's office. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into all aspects of ministry communications and how data drives strategic outcomes.

About the job

In this role, you will:
• support the Communications Branch by understanding its programs, services, structure, and key stakeholders
• stay informed on current issues, media coverage, and initiatives, and flag any sensitive or high-risk issues to management and/or executive offices
• track and manage communications data (e.g., media coverage and events, social media engagement, stakeholder engagement, and correspondence) and keep systems accurate and up to date
• ensure communications activities are tracked accurately and provide regular and ad hoc reports
• identify training needs, provide guidance on tracking systems and templates, deliver training, advise on processes, and resolve issues
• use word processing and spreadsheet tools to prepare materials

What you bring to the team


Analytical, evaluative and reasoning skills

You can:
• demonstrate evaluative skills to review and understand data, determine the nature of requests, set priorities, determine action and delegate accordingly
• research information and provide clear written responses to requests
• show initiative to understand and respond to the different needs, processes, and requests of two different ministries and their executive offices
• use sound reasoning to manage priorities, follow up with staff, review content, respond to inquiries, and flag issues

Organizational and technical skills

You can:
• organize and manage a varied workload by handling changing priorities, working on multiple tasks, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• use keyboarding and word processing tools to prepare emails, reports, memoranda, and other documents
• use Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, and presentation software) to track and manage data, create reports, and develop presentations

Communication and training skills

You can:
• communicate clearly with staff at all levels, including explaining procedures, answering questions, and sharing information with program areas and executive offices
• train and support staff through one-on-one and group sessions
• write clear and concise content and reports

Legislative knowledge

• You have knowledge of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation to protect sensitive and confidential information
