This competition will be used to create an eligibility list of qualified candidates to fill upcoming opportunities within the next 21 months following the closing date of the job ad posting.These positions will support all three locations of the new campus model institution which comprises of three sites located at:
• 2351 Highway 61 South
• 285 MacDougall Street
• 2495 Highway 61 South
Successful candidates will be headquartered at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre New Build site (2495 Highway 61 South) and may be assigned to work at any of the three locations within the Thunder Bay campus.
Candidates may be hired in advance of the planned opening in 2027 to support training and ensure effective operations upon opening.

About the job
As a Records Clerk, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date offender records. You will:
• Verify admittance documents and ensure legal compliance
• Calculate and reconcile inmate sentences and fines
• Maintain both manual and electronic offender files
• Prepare documentation for transfers and discharges
• Provide authorized information to justice officials, law enforcement, and the public
Note: This position requires the successful candidates to work rotating shifts.
What you bring to the team
Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
You have:
• experience with office procedures, including records management practice, filing systems, and information management systems.
• skills to calculate, verify, and check admission information as well as ensure records are consistent with court sentences and legislation, and maintain confidentiality.
• demonstrated understanding of the criminal justice system and inmate sentencing
• the ability to interpret and apply legislation (e.g., Criminal Code, Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act)
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
You can:
• ensure the accuracy of inmate admission and discharge documentation and correct discrepancies.
• calculate, verify, and check admission information and ensure records are consistent with court sentences and legislation.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
You possess:
• effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with inmates, staff, justice officials, and the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

Successful applicants to this job posting may qualify for financial compensation under the Northern Attraction Incentive Program (NAIP).
