About the job

In this role, you will:

• facilitate the development and transfer of terrestrial wildlife monitoring products
• lead and coordinate the development and recommendation of strategies, and tactical/operational objectives and plans
• schedule activities and oversee the day-to-day province-wide operation
• align program direction and activities with identified business needs
• prepare and maintain annual budgets, and maintain financial controls
• participate on science teams, provincial task forces, technical committees and working groups
• provide advice related to sustainable resource management and the development and implementation of terrestrial wildlife monitoring programs

What you bring to the team


Technical knowledge:

• You have advanced knowledge and understanding of the terrestrial wildlife (population and habitat) ecology of Ontario, as well as related scientific theories, methods and principles and their application in resource management.
• You have comprehensive knowledge of wildlife population and habitat field operations, particularly as related to inventory, monitoring and assessment.
• You have knowledge of relevant terrestrial wildlife legislation policies, procedures and programs.

Analytical and problem-solving skills:

• You have proven analytical and evaluation skills to analyze and evaluate complex products and recommendations.
• You have business analysis skills, including strong critical thinking and assessment skills related to science and technical options to address business needs and to develop terrestrial wildlife monitoring program business cases.
• You have problem-solving skills to explore issues and create various solutions/options.

Interpersonal and communication skills:

• You have strong verbal and written communication skills to speak at meetings, give presentations, brief managers, and prepare reports.
• You have proven conflict resolution skills to be able to bring contrary views to consensus.
• You can work independently and can work in a team environment.

Project management and organizational skills:

• You have a proven ability to effectively facilitate projects through to completion.
• You have strong organizational skills and time management skills to meet programs' tight deadlines under stressful conditions.
