As superintendent of a maximum-security facility housing adults, you will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team in the safe, secure and effective delivery of correctional services and programs; contribute to an environment that supports and values anti-sexist, anti-racist organizational change and is free of discrimination and harassment.

Mandatory requirements
demonstrated change management experience and superior leadership and employee relations experience/skills, to direct, motivate and develop staff and effectively manage/coordinate institutional resources, programs and services; experience in public administration, including thorough knowledge of correctional administration and organizational theory/development; demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring performance standards/outcomes, and developing, implementing and monitoring organizational business/financial plans; thorough knowledge of/ability to interpret legislation, including, but not limited to, the Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Criminal Code of Canada, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, Ontario Human Rights Code, Public Service Act, and ministry policies, directives and collective agreements; superior communication, interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills; ability to effectively manage emergency/crisis situations and use a personal computer and associated software. Note: A behavioural competency-based assessment/selection process will be used for this competition, as outlined in the superintendent position competency models (dated November 1999), and could include: change management; developing others, flexibility, holding people accountable, integrity, leadership, self-control, and/or strategic orientation.
