At the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) we provide highly specialized trauma-informed mental health and developmental services. These services include Assessment, Consultation, Treatment, Research and Education. We work with local community services, building on what they have already done and use evidence-based practices to adapt our approach to the unique needs of each child. CPRI is searching for a Residence Support Assistant to support and provide assistance to the Residence Manager in the implementation of an effective residential treatment program.
Note: This position may require working afternoon and evening shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.
About the job
• Assist the Residence Manager by supporting the planning and development of an effective program of care and treatment for residential clients and promotes leadership direction to the residential team
• Work with a multidisciplinary team and liaises with community partners, families and clients
• Assist with residential inventory control, including ordering supplies, reconciling purchases, and forecasting
• Support residential staff in the collection of program evaluation and research data
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• You have successfully completed the Child & Youth Worker or the Developmental Service Worker program at a recognized post-secondary institution OR equivalent
• You have a valid certificate in First Aid and CPR OR can obtain upon hire
Specialized Knowledge
• You are able to identify, assess, and prioritize strengths and problems of children and youth with complex mental health issues and/or development challenges and can develop treatment programs
• You have knowledge of evidence-based practices for children and youth with complex mental health issues and/or development challenges
• You have knowledge of professional, community, and facility resources that are available to assist children and family
Communication Skills
• You have effective oral and written communication skills, with patience and tact, to work with residential staff members, clients, clinicians, families and community partners
Organization and Planning Skills
• You are able to assist with residential staff scheduling processes, identify staffing requirements, and develop work schedules
• You are have initiative and problem-solving skills
