Lead court operations in one of Ontario's most unique and community-focused justice environments. As a Court Operations Supervisor in Kenora, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the delivery of court services within a growing and evolving court system. Working closely with judges, court staff, justice partners, and community organizations, you will oversee daily operations, provide supervision and coaching to staff, and ensure services are delivered in accordance with legislative requirements, policies, and court procedures. Kenora offers a unique opportunity to work at a base court while supporting court operations in the far north. Kenora courthouse services numerous remote and fly-in communities, and is home to a Justice Centre that supports restorative and community-based approaches to justice. Lead Court Operations: Oversee the day-to-day delivery of court services, ensuring proceedings are supported efficiently and in compliance with legislation, policies, court procedures, and judicial requirements.

Provide Leadership and Team Development: Supervise, coach, and support staff by setting clear expectations, managing performance, fostering employee engagement, and promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.

Support Indigenous and Community Relationships: Build and maintain effective relationships with Indigenous communities, justice partners, and community organizations while supporting culturally responsive and accessible court services.

Manage Operational Resources and Service Delivery: Coordinate staffing, scheduling, facilities, and operational resources to ensure the effective delivery of court services and respond to evolving business needs.

Provide Technical and Legislative Guidance: Interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and court practices while providing advice and direction to staff on operational and procedural matters.

Foster Stakeholder Collaboration and Continuous Improvement: Work closely with the judiciary, legal professionals, justice partners, and community stakeholders to resolve issues, enhance service delivery, and support operational improvements and change initiatives.

Meet Your New Team Kenora Courthouse serves as a vital justice hub for Northwestern Ontario, supporting a diverse range of criminal, family, and civil matters. Home to the Kenora Justice Centre and restorative justice initiatives, the courthouse plays an important role in advancing culturally responsive approaches to justice and strengthening relationships with community partners.
What you bring to the team
Leadership and People Management Skills
- Experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff in a fast-paced court or operational environment.
- Ability to foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
- Experience managing employee performance, attendance, and workplace issues with professionalism and fairness.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, manage competing priorities, and support continuous improvement.
Communication and Stakeholder Relationship Skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the judiciary, justice partners, legal professionals, community stakeholders, and Indigenous and First Nation communities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally, and to engage respectfully with diverse communities and partners.
- Experience collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to promote positive outcomes, strengthen relationships, and support responsive service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve operational, service delivery, or client issues using sound judgment, tact, and political acuity when dealing with sensitive, complex, or high-profile matters.
Court Operations and Legislative Knowledge
- Experience working within a court environment and supporting the delivery of court services.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and court practices.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy to operational and procedural matters.
- Experience providing technical guidance and direction to staff on court processes and requirements.
