Competition # PDSB26-150The Ministry of Education, Provincial and Demonstration Schools Branch, Resource Services and Outreach Programs hosts a series of Short Term Placement programs for students who are blind and/or visually impaired enrolled in local district school board programs focussing on a variety of topics aimed at the development of social, emotional, recreational and living skills.
This position will, in conjunction with Resource Services and Outreach program administrators, assist in the development of meaningful programs that will meet the needs of youth who are blind and/or visually impaired.
About the job
In this position you will:
• Manage the Short Term Program by providing supervision, guidance, and instruction to staff and students participating in the program.
• Assist in the recruitment of participants to attend the designated weekend programs.
• Work with Community Agencies and student feedback to create meaningful programs.
• Work within a fiscally responsible manner.
• Understanding the importance of being a strong team member.

Related Knowledge:
• You know and understand all aspects of childcare.
• You have knowledge of practices, legislation, guidelines, and policies relevant to Occupational Health and Safety.
• You know and can interpret and apply relevant provincial legislation and policies, including the Child and Family Services Act, Education Act, Employment policy and legislation and other relevant legislations and policies governing education in Ontario.
• You have proven experience and skills in developing sustainable programs.
• You have proven experience working with community agencies.
Communication skills:
• You have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to communicate effectively with students, parents, professionals, and community service support agencies.
• You can work as part of a cohesive team and keep your supervisor up to date on the progress of the program's development and results.
