Explore this unique opportunity to assist the Health Care Manager in coordinating and directing the effective day-to-day delivery of health care services to male and female youth at the Roy McMurtry Youth Centre.
Providing leadership and senior nursing services, you will collaborate to: develop nursing assignments, schedule replacement staff and facilitate/co-ordinate the Registered Nurses' function; provide orientation, mentoring and counseling to Registered Nurses; advise/instruct the interdisciplinary team; assess/triage youth health care conditions, develop treatment plans of care, provide routine/emergency care and administer medication; resolve clinical challenges and manage crisis intervention; develop/deliver formal education programs to youth; order and maintain medical supplies and pharmaceuticals; ensure the safety of health care professionals and youth, and the security of the health care department.

Mandatory requirements
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario having obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Current Certification in First Aid and CPR at the BCLS level. Evidence based clinical health care knowledge and practice; knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice; in-depth knowledge of health care approaches for gendered youth to advocate for youth; excellent communication, team building, interpersonal and leadership skills to provide general supervision and collaborate with/manage enquiries from facility interdisciplinary team, youth services officers, chaplain, facility managers, advocates, community stakeholders, physicians, youth and their families; knowledge of relevant sections of related legislation (e.g. Regulated Health Professions Act, Health Care Consent Act); ability to follow facility policies/procedures; excellent reasoning and analytical skills; ability to work independently; computer skills including mainframe, internet/intranet, Word, PowerPoint to input/retrieve information, to develop memos/reports and the education program, and to research health care information/policy updates.
