About the job

Student - Assistant Water Resources Technician
Assist with the collection, entry and analysis of water resources data. Data may be related to one or more of the following: groundwater, surface water, geomorphology, meteorology, water quality (benthics and chemistry) or fish. Specialized equipment will be used and maintained in the collection of the data.

Student - Fish and Wildlife Assistant
Conduct research in the office and potentially in the field, analyze and draft reports on fish and wildlife resources. Assist with fish and wildlife marketing and communication initiatives, including maintenance of slide files, electronic photos and intranet sites.

Student - Wetlands Information Management Assistant
Update technical documents, reports and web links and assist with the coordination of wetland evaluations, information management training sessions and surveys; as well as help develop follow-up documentation.

Student - Office Administrator
Prepare / file correspondence, respond to inquiries. Plan, organize, coordinate and manage daily assigned work. Support a team on a range of administrative activities. Perform data entry, prepare documents and manage schedules.

Mandatory requirements

Student - Assistant Water Resources Technician
You have strong organization, analytical, verbal and written communication, and computer skills to collect data, perform data entry and analyze data. The assistant must be willing to work outdoors and in adverse environmental conditions.

Student - Fish and Wildlife Assistant
You have strong organization, analytical, verbal and written communication, and computer skills to manage data, analyze fish and wildlife program information, respond verbally and in writing to client's inquiries regarding fish and wildlife resources, and provide administrative support with files and intranet updates.

Student - Wetlands Information Management Assistant
Strong computer skills will be needed to help with the scanning and electronic storage of historical wetlands data and reports. Excellent organization abilities are required to update the inventory listing of Wetland reports, slide shows and files. There may be an opportunity for formal training (a five-day course) in the use of the Ontario Wetland Evaluation System.

Student - Office Administrator
You respond to phone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries and provide information to internal clients and/or public using your customer service and oral communications skills

All positions:
You use computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, email, electronic file management systems
You use office equipment such as photocopier, fax machine, scanner to complete administrative tasks
You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlines
