Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) requires a proven expert and leader to plan and manage the investigation of public complaints about police officers and police services, as required under its governing legislation.
About the job
You will:
•plan, develop and manage all OIPRD Investigation programs, services and resources
•establish and ensure compliance with investigation policies, procedures and performance measures to ensure integrity, cost-effectiveness and efficiency and support for the strategic direction and mandate of the Independent Police Review Director (IPRD)
•provide investigations expertise and support associated issues management
•participate in the laying of charges under the enforcement provisions of the legislation
•participate in OIPRD senior management planning and reviews, problem- solving and issues management

Investigative Knowledge and Skill:
•you have expertise in accepted investigation information gathering, standards, practices and protocols
•you have proven ability to apply investigation-related legislation, jurisprudence and precedents
•you have demonstrated excellence in case management, including evidence gathering
•you have thorough knowledge of Ontario's and related policing fields, including the diverse organizations, policies, standards and issues
•you have ability to acquire and understand the organization's mandate, goals and activities in order to plan and prioritize investigations
•you can provide authoritative functional expertise and direction
•you have an understanding of policing issues in Ontario
•you have an understanding of the diverse communities in Ontario
Management and Leadership Skills:
•you can demonstrate political acuity, judgement, discretion, conceptual, evaluation, advisory and decision-making skills
•you can lead, motivate and guide staff
•you are able to assess\review systemic issues and create innovative legal investigation approaches
•you can supervise and direct investigations
Planning and Organizing Skills:
•you are able to ensure good governance through planning, management and control of resources (such as human, fiscal, material)
•you have ability to develop operational policy, ensure cost-effective operations and compliance in procuring services, and negotiate service level agreements
