About the job

In this role, you will:
• provide strategic analysis of legal specifications for complex corporate tax measures
• lead teams in the review of tax legislation and identify opportunities for improving the effectiveness of legislation
• work with Legal Services to ensure legislation and regulations meet policy directions
• provide expert technical tax advice to senior management and provide support to the Minister in the passage of legislation
• develop legal specifications for amendments to legislation and regulations
• participate in the policy-making process and work with stakeholders to address tax design issues

What you bring to the team


Technical Expertise:

• You have experience working with corporate tax legislation and provincial and federal personal income tax legislation
• You know legal and accounting practices related to the taxation field
• You know the legislative process and have experience in designing and developing policies
• You are able to draft legal specifications for amendments to legislation and regulations
• You have experience in reviewing legislation to develop design options for implementing new tax statutes

Communication, Interpersonal and Negotiation Skills:

• You can present complex tax materials and brief senior management on issues
• You have experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with senior officials and staff
• You have experience dealing diplomatically with senior staff, the public and taxpayer groups

Analytical, Organizational and Leadership Skills:

• You have experience analyzing large volumes of information and providing options to improve policy effectiveness
• You have experience leading project teams and assisting senior staff with various tasks
• You are able to monitor work, explain tasks, set deadlines and review work for quality control
• You are able to work within tight competing deadlines
