About the job

You will:

• operate and maintain electronic testing equipment to locate operational problems, identify and execute repairs
• install, maintain, test and repair electrical and Advanced Traffic Management Systems such as video and data transmission systems
• ensure safe operation of vehicles, aerial and auguring devices
• provide technical guidance to contractors and staff
• maintain records of equipment repairs and modifications

What you bring to the team


Mandatory requirements:

• Certificate of Qualification in Electrician Construction and Maintenance with Electronics endorsement (309A or 309D)
• Class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario

Technical knowledge and skills:

• knowledge of electrical and electronic theory
• knowledge of Ontario Electric Safety Code
• ability to use electric and electronic test equipment
• ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings
• experience in the repair and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment in accordance with Code requirements
• knowledge of the theories and operation of Advanced Traffic Management Systems such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, electronic Variable Message Signs, vehicle detection systems and fibre-optic communications

General skills:

• proven analytical, problem solving and communication skills to analyze and solve complex technical problems, train staff and work in a team environment
• organizational skills to maintain records of equipment and repairs
