The Labour and Transportation I&IT Cluster has an opportunity for you to be a key player in our tier 2 and 3 technical support team.
About the job
You will:
• manage 2nd and 3rd tier support services for the client ministry's systems to ensure a high level of availability, reliability and data integrity of the multi-tiered technical environment
• manage reliable and efficient production operation services and systems monitoring to support non-stop client business
• participate in the implementation and support our current portfolio of applications (mainframe, client/server and web based n-tiered (UNIX and Windows-Intel operations)
• provide advice to clients and senior management related to the technical environment, application and operational issues
What you bring to the team
Leadership Skills
You have:
• management skills to coach, lead and motivate staff, and to manage resources within allocated budget
• knowledge of project management principles, techniques and processes, including planning, estimating, budgeting and performance measurement to lead and coordinate concurrent, large scale projects
IT Technical Knowledge
You have:
• demonstrated knowledge of data centre operations best practices to manage multiple service providers, service level agreements, infrastructure and application support in a large, complex and integrated mainframe within an n-tier environment (i.e. UNIX and Windows-Intel operations) security principles
• knowledge of current and emerging technologies to manage the delivery of production operations for an integrated multi-platform environment
• knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Incident, Problem and Change Management, including Configuration, Availability and Capacity Management
• knowledge of underlying technologies such as: mainframe online and batch operations, SNA/TCP-IP networks, n-tier (UNIX and Windows-Intel operations)
Communication, Consultation and Problem Solving Skills
You have:
• demonstrated oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and consultation skills to establish effective relationships and provide advice to senior systems management
• negotiation skills to develop and negotiate service level agreements, operating level agreements and service provider contracts
• demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills to coordinate the resolution of technical incidents and outages, to analyze and evaluate key components of system applications and technical impacts of proposed projects
