Consider this opportunity with the Ontario and/or Superior Court of Justice where you will be responsible for providing clerical, cashier, counter services and administrative tasks for the efficient operation of a court office.

Note: The number of positions to be filled has not been identified at this time. This competition will be used to create an eligibility list to fill upcoming permanent full time, temporary full time (various durations), and part time opportunities within the next twelve months.

About the job

In this position you will:

• attend at a public counter to receive, record, file, schedule and process court documents in accordance with legislation, rules and procedures;
• respond to public inquiries in person, by telephone and in writing;
• operate a cash register, receive, process and balance monies;
• input/update cases on court computerized systems;
• maintain filing systems and provide administrative and clerical support.

What you bring to the team


Communication & Analytical Skills:

• good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise and deal effectively with clients and to prepare correspondence/reports;
• attention to detail required to review legal documents, accept/issue documents, prepare orders, and work with cash;
• analytical skills to determine clients' needs and advise on missing requirements or proper completion of legal documents.

Office Skills & Knowledge:

• knowledge of/ability to interpret and apply the procedures, rules, acts, statutes, legislation and directives relevant to the Ontario and Superior Court of Justice;
• understanding of court practices and procedures to process and prepare court documents;
• knowledge of office procedures and practices to provide administrative and clerical support;
• knowledge of cash control practices for recording payments;
• mathematical skills to perform calculations and the ability to balance and reconcile cash;
• ability to use personal computers and related software.

Please note: this court office is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Work hours will fall between this timeframe.
