About the job

You will:
• identify new and emerging opportunities related to the forest bioeconomy
• lead the implementation and periodic review of Ontario's Forest Biofibre policy
• coordinate the development and implementation of strategies, policies and programs related to the forest bioeconomy
• provide expert advice to senior management, field operations, partners and client groups
• conduct research and analysis of new bioconversion technologies, systems and concepts
• participate on task teams, committees and working groups

What you bring to the team


Technical skills and knowledge:

• thorough knowledge of forest legislation, regulations, policies, programs, and related regulatory mechanics
• understanding of theory and practices for forest management
• applied scientific or engineering expertise and experience with forest biomass conversion technologies
• sound knowledge of the forest products sector and its economic significance regionally and globally
• understanding of emerging trends and competitiveness factors related to the forest and emerging bioproducts and bioenergy sectors

Analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills:

• ability to research, analyze, and assess complex issues and provide recommendations

People skills:

• well developed communication, facilitation, interpersonal and networking skills to consult and interact
• ability to prepare reports and briefing materials on recommended program and policy options and strategies
• demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative and work under pressure while motivating other team members

Computer skills:

• ability to use various applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database management and the internet
