The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) is looking for an experienced engineering services departmental manager to provide leadership OCWA Engineering Services Group. The group provides expertise in technical aspects of water and wastewater, and is responsible for the management of major capital works and a host of engineering consulting services, including asset management, biosolids management, and process efficiency reviews and energy management.
The Director will be expected to build this group beyond its current capacity and capabilities to become an integral part of OCWA's value added service offerings.
About the job
In this high profile fast-paced role, you will:
• Generate revenue from the provision of engineering and consulting services to OCWA customers and new customers within a commercial environment
• Execute OCWA's operational strategy and plans against pre-set strategic goals for engineering services.
• Liaise with Clients, working closely with the sales organization and the operation's organization to ensure that OCWA's plans are achieved efficiently and effectively.
• Manage a team of professional engineers
• Ensure that this whole group is highly visible within the industry and that OCWA is recognized as being a leader in the provision of engineering services to the water and waste water sector.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Engineering degree and membership in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO);
Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate will have proven strengths and experience in the following areas:
• Leadership and Management Skills with a track record of building and leading a team of professional high performing staff:
• Business Management Skills with proven track record of achieving growth and hitting personal and corporate objectives
• Communication and interpersonal skills evidenced by successful dealings within the industry and with customers at industry conferences and meetings.
• Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities.
• Planning and organizational skill with a proven ability to build and manage a financial and business plan .
Other Essential Skills
• Extensive management experience in an engineering discipline as related to water and wastewater system design, construction and operations
• Understanding of key financial principles as related to providing professional services and to managing a revenue generating department
• Project Management experience or credentials
• Knowledge and leadership in technology and innovative solutions to the water/wastewater industry
