About the job
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance and Controllership Branch, you will:
• Lead and manage the full range of corporate financial planning, performance-based budgetary control, forecasting, risk management, financial accounting, reporting and controllership services, including:
o Developing ministry-wide financial reporting and controllership frameworks
o Preparing the ministry's public accounts and other external reports
o Analyzing and negotiating complex financial arrangements for the Ministry of Natural Resources
• Be responsible for the effective management of all corporate financial policy development and business practice implementation projects across the Ministry
• Have full accountability for identification and recommendation of practical solutions to ministry financial issues
• Liaise with central agencies and lead ministries to ensure effective and quality financial recommendations
What you bring to the team
Knowledge
• You have strong expertise in financial planning, as well as accounting & control principles and practices (GAAP)
• You have expert knowledge of external and public sector accounting, financial reporting, planning and modern controllership practices and processes
• You have experience with practices and applications of modern controllership, financial information systems, contemporary cash/accrual accounting methodologies, revenue management, public sector accounting and internal control mechanisms
Leadership
• You have strong leadership skills and the demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor staff
• You have management and leadership experience in a fast paced and dynamic environment, delivering high quality financial analysis and services under tight timeframes
• You have experience utilizing project management practices and processes to deliver on large initiatives
Communication
• You have superior issues management skills, including superior presentation and briefing skills, to manage and inform all levels of management and staff on diverse and complex financial issues
• You are able to anticipate and manage resistance to change in order to achieve desired outcomes
