What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
Water treatment and water distribution certification is a requirement of the position.
The specific license and level of the wastewater treatment certification would be specific to the classification of the facilities that the position is operating with a willingness to obtain certification at the highest level of the facilities (ability to obtain Class 4 Water Treatment, Class 4 Water Distribution,; at least a minimum Level 1 as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Water Drinking Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act.
Must hold a valid Class G Driver's license.
Must be available to be on-call after regular working hours to respond to alarm conditions.
Knowledge
Extensive experience and knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
Knowledge of mathematics and chemistry.
Experience and knowledge of maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and structures.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, health and safety procedures and WHMIS.
Knowledge of computers and familiarity with computerized monitoring systems (SCADA).
Skills and abilities include
Ability to lead a team and to take initiative as senior operator when required.
Ability to exercise judgement.
Basic electrical repair, welding, plumbing and millwright.
Physical dexterity and ability to work in confined spaces, dirty and/or noisy environments.
Good oral/ written communication skills.
Ability to use and understand operating and maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications
