About the job
In this role, you will:
• develop and provide fiscal, financial and economic analysis to senior decision makers
• provide analysis and advice to senior management on the fiscal impact of policy and program decisions
• provide advice to management on potential issues related to the implementation of the multi-year fiscal plan, strategy and outlook
• review policy proposals and make recommendations that have impacts on funding and programs
• research and write papers, presentations and briefing materials
• coordinate and review input into the Provincial Budget, Fall Economic Statement and other reports
• evaluate the Province's progress in meeting its current fiscal targets
What you bring to the team
Technical Expertise:
• You have demonstrated knowledge of economic, financial and accounting theories, principles and practices used in a public sector environment
• You have knowledge of the fiscal and accounting structure and budgeting processes in the public sector
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
• You have experience identifying key fiscal issues and developing potential resolutions
• You are able to plan and coordinate the economic and fiscal policy analysis and planning activities of the team in a high pressure environment
Consultation, Communication and Presentation Skills:
• You have demonstrated consultation skills
• You are able to provide accurate, timely and appropriate advice and information to senior management, the Minister of Finance and Cabinet Committees
• You have demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation skills to prepare and present materials to senior management and stakeholders
• You have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Computer Skills:
• You are proficient in computer modeling and software applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Outlook
• You can develop and present recommendations, reports, briefing notes, and related planning materials
