About the job
Work Description:
• Accompany a qualified Conservation Officer on an MNR boat to conduct marine checks of resource users (e.g. sport fisherman and hunters) for enforcement of resource and safety legislation)
• Assist in all aspects of marine enforcement such as license, catch and gear inspections and participate in outreach activities (e.g. social events involving the public like Sportsman and boat shows)
• Assist in boat maintenance and record keeping maintenance logs to ensure boats are working and meet safety standards for safe operation
• Plan, organize, coordinate and manage daily assigned work (e.g. office administration, audit of different catch records)

Mandatory requirements
Some positions require students to be 15-24 years of age (or 15-29 years of age if you are a person with a disability) due to program funding.
Some positions may require the successful candidate(s) to undergo a personal security screening check as a condition of employment.
Qualification Requirements
Communications and Interpersonal Skills
• You apply your oral communications skills to promote the marine enforcement program to the public
• You apply your written communication skills to prepare a variety of documents (e.g. reports, document findings, record data)
• You apply your interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team environment and participate in meetings
Organizational Skills
• You apply your administrative and organizational skills to maintain records, daily log entries and statistics
• You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your time to meet competing deadlines
Other Requirements
• You are 18 years of age or older
• You must have a valid Ontario G2 (or higher) Driver's Licence with an excellent record
• You must have the Pleasure Craft Operators Card or are willing to acquire it
• You must have CPR and First Aid certification or are willing to acquire it
• Travel will be required to accompany staff on multi-day outdoor field trips to conduct marine checks to enforce safety legislation
• You will work outdoors and in adverse weather conditions
