The Exhibit Operations and Fabrications Unit at the Ontario Science Centre requires a highly skilled person to design, prototype, fabricate, maintain and repair electrical installations and equipment in exhibits and related areas.

Mandatory requirements

Candidates must hold a current Ontario Electrical licence.

Ability to work weekends and evenings

Knowledge and Skills

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience developing and fabricating electrical circuitry and related components; experience in electrical construction practices; experience in automation and controls (PLC programming and wiring, motor control etc); proven knowledge of and in depth experience with electrical shop safety and electrical practices and theories; proven ability to interpret blueprints, sketches and electrical schematics to fabricate custom finished installations and components to precise measurements; experience operating a wide range of portable, hand tools and specialized testing equipment; knowledge of machinery, production methods, sourcing/costing/ and estimating materials, production quality control; ability to work in a team environment and lift 25 kg; strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other staff members; demonstrated knowledge of related trades, i.e. metal, wood, electronics, graphic production; strong mathematical skills for precise measurements and to perform calculations such as area for layouts, material estimates. Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Code required.

Note: This position requires occasional travel (including international)
