About the job

In this challenging role, you will:
• participate in policy research projects, program design and delivery reviews, development and transfer of initiatives
• analyze and support projects and initiatives for forest programs
• prepare and maintain project documentation, assess implications and impacts, and draft correspondence
• assist in coordinating stakeholder consultation and training, attend stakeholder meetings and forums to discuss interests, concerns and issues and seek advice on developing forest policy

What you bring to the team

Knowledge:

• You possess sound knowledge of the principles and practices of forest management planning and silviculture systems, procedures and techniques.
• You have knowledge of and the ability to use computer programs including word-processing, databases, spreadsheets, forest analytical tools and presentation software.

Research and analytical skills:

• You have excellent research, analytical and problem solving skills to source out policies and legislation, provide rationales for policy use/creation and for finding solutions to forest management challenges and issues.
• You have the ability to review and interpret policy and legislation related to resource management.
• You possess well developed project management and organizational skills to deal with multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

Interpersonal and communication skills:

• You possess strong oral and written communication skills to explain current policies and programs, prepare reports and make formal presentations.
• You have proven interpersonal and facilitation skills as well as the ability to promote and develop effective working relationships with other program areas and forest stakeholders.
• You are able to work independently, as a member of a team, and collaboratively in a multi-team setting.

• The minimum salary rates identified in this posting are subject to revision as a result of the recently agreed to OPSEU collective agreement covering the period of January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014.
