About the job
• As the Fire Management Planning Intern you will assist regional and provincial planning specialists in the development and implementation of fire science and planning initiatives. You will provide support, technical advice, and ensure provincial consistency relative to ongoing and future projects such as risk based fire management planning, hazardous fuels, and stakeholder partnerships.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
• Proof of eligibility to work in Canada;
• Proof of full-time enrolment in a recognized post-secondary college or university or graduation within the last five years; and
• Candidates are only eligible to participate in a maximum of two placements.
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of legislation and policies governing fire management and resource management planning.
• Knowledge of fire management planning, land-use planning, forest management planning and fire science and effects.
• Knowledge of pertinent acts (eg. Forest Fire Prevention Act, Environmental Bill of Rights, Crown Forest Sustainability Act) to provide information and analysis for fire managers.
Please Note: The successful candidate will be at the base-level pay rate and will move up in the pay scale in accordance with the OPSEU collective agreement.
*The minimum salary rates identified in this posting are subject to revision as a result of the recently agreed to OPSEU collective agreement covering the period of January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014.
